Today I have a few tips on how to harvest and dry fresh autumn fall almonds!
I find the Autumn to be an extremely busy time in my garden. The apples are ready for harvest, as are the pears and this means jams pickles and preserving time. Jars have to be taken down, sterilised as I prepped in my quest to waste not one thing. The leaves are gently dropping and just like that a gust of wind blows through my garden and the almonds fall.
To harvest, it’s just a matter of getting outside and picking each and every one up. The hulls need removing and the golden nuggets contained within allowed to gently dry in the late autumn sun before being hung in a nice dry airy place.
