Paddington Terrace sees Queen Mab Studio renovate the kitchen and bathroom, elevating the home to exhibit a mixture of both classic and contemporary styles. Situated in the Sydney suburb of Paddington, the building’s two Victoria homes were combined into one residence. Queen Mab Studio renovates the kitchen and bathroom with Artedomus porcelain panels, elevating the structure into a more modern comfort.

The project endeavoured for the insertions to feel as though they had always been there, ageing gracefully alongside the rest of the home. Pressed porcelain from Artedomus was chosen to complement the existing warm American oak timber and the clean lines and volumes of the house ¬– the porcelain material’s warm, textural, minimal and contemporary qualities made the large panels an ideal choice for the kitchen and bathroom designs.

Porcelain is durable, non-porous and resistant to scratches and thermal shock – ideal for use in the kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen is adorned with Venato porcelain panels on the island, splashback and back bench in a marble print, whilst the bathrooms see the use of Maximum Neptune panels in a subtle warm grey that exuded a similar class and elegance. In a six-millimetre thickness, the panels are easily adhered to the cabinetry and walls, creating a seamless interior look, enhancing the shapes and materiality of the existing home.

Available from Artedomus, the porcelain panels effortlessly fit within contemporary kitchen and bathroom contexts. Different to marble, the pressed porcelain is lightweight and warm to touch, lifting Paddington Terrace into the modern age.
