China should be called the country of roses! They are everywhere standing loud and proud. What got my attention was the fragrance and for reasons I don’t understand they are bigger than those I am used to and they do not drop their petals.

Roses hold a significant place in Chinese culture, with the China rose, also known as Rosa chinensis, having been cultivated in China for over a thousand years. They are deeply rooted in Chinese traditions, symbolising prosperity, beauty, and love. While roses are not always explicitly linked to specific Chinese festivals or holidays like the Lotus, which has strong symbolic associations with purity, roses are widely appreciated for their beauty and are often used in gardens, paintings, and other artistic expressions.

Things to gather:
- Golden Urn. Plain or embellish as I have done theme by decorating with floral motives.
- Long twisty vine of red roses or garland of roses fixed to twisty willow.
- A couple of large blush coloured peony.
- Optional – fuchsia coloured moth orchid.
