I'm raising the ceiling of a bedroom in my basement. The builders (1982) dropped the ceiling to 7 feet to accommodate ductwork. I'm going to raise the ceiling about 5 inches to sit just below the ductwork. In this video, I remove the existing sheetrock (covered in popcorn!) using a Rockwell F30 oscillating tool. This is the right tool for the job - you can quickly score the sheetrock without punching through electrical wires and pull it down in big chunks.
